    HISTÓRIAS E MEMÓRIAS AFRO-ATLÂNTICAS NOS ROMANCES DE ELIANA ALVES CRUZ

    RESUMO Esta tese resulta da investigação sobre a ficcionalização da travessia atlântica, compreendendo este tema enquanto lacuna de pesquisa nos estudos críticos dedicados à literatura brasileira. Intervindo nesse cenário, o objetivo deste trabalho é discutir os sentidos da travessia atlântica nos romances Água de Barrela (2016) e O crime do Cais do Valongo (2018), de Eliana Alves Cruz. Para tanto, o conceito de travessia é concebido em perspectiva ampla, sobretudo, enquanto elemento de análise que considera a experiência no navio negreiro como um aspecto continuamente redivivo em nossa sociedade. A tese responde aos seguintes problemas de pesquisa: (i) quais as possibilidades de articulação entre as obras produzidas por escritoras negras, do século XIX à atualidade, que tematizam a experiência da travessia atlântica? (ii) Quais são os possíveis sentidos acerca do passado nacional considerando a memória tributária dessa travessia na narração de mulheres negras? (iii) A literatura pode ser compreendida como um modo de reelaboração do passado, atuando na preservação da memória negra no país? A pesquisa bibliográfica parte de pressupostos teóricos do campo dos estudos literários e decoloniais, como também de reflexões da história e da filosofia. O corpus literário acionado ao longo da tese, além do valor estético, também institui um campo de produção epistemológico próprio. O estudo dos romances possibilitou a compreensão de uma estratégia narrativa de articulação entre o passado e o presente em uma relação de efeitos historicamente forjados, tendo em vista o desenvolvimento da escravização negra e as suas consequências, as políticas de apagamento da memória negra e as ações de insubordinação frente a esse contexto. A ficcionalização do passado é realizada em um processo de transposição de arquivos para a construção de subjetividades irrecuperáveis, capazes de reafirmar as suas existências no texto literário. A escrevivência e a fabulação crítica podem ser apreendidas como procedimentos metodológicos e de criação literária que viabilizam pensar a travessia e a sua permanência enquanto marca, motivando uma poética que tem como pilar a busca por justiça. ABSTRACT This thesis results from an investigation into the fictionalization of the Atlantic crossing, understanding this theme as a research gap in critical studies dedicated to Brazilian literature. Intervening in this scenario, the objective of this work is to discuss the meanings of the Atlantic crossing in the novels Água de Barrela (2016) and O crime do Cais do Valongo (2018), by Eliana Alves Cruz. Therefore, the concept of crossing is conceived in a broad perspective, above all, as an element of analysis that considers the experience on the slaveship as an aspect that is continually revived in our society. The thesis responds to the following research problems: (i) what are the possibilities of articulation between the works produced by black female writers, from the 19th century to the present day, that thematize the experience of the Atlantic crossing? (ii) What are the possible meanings about the national past considering the tributary memory of this crossing in the narration of black women? (iii) Can literature be understood as a way of re-elaborating the past, acting in the preservation of black memory in the country? The bibliographic research is based on theoretical assumptions in the field of literary and decolonial studies, as well as reflections on history and philosophy. The literary corpus actuated throughout the thesis, in addition to its aesthetic value, also establishes its own epistemological field of production. The study of the novels made it possible to understand a narrative strategy of articulation between the past and the present in a relation of historically forged effects, in view of the development of black enslavement and its consequences, the policies of erasure of black memory and the actions of insubordination in this context. The fictionalization of the past is carried out in a process of transposing archives for the construction of unrecoverable subjectivities, capable of reaffirming their existence in the literary text. Escrevivência and critical fabulation can be apprehended as methodological and literary creation procedures that make it possible to think about the crossing and its permanence as a mark, motivating a poetics that has the search for justice as its pillar.
