dc.description.abstractRESUMO:Esta dissertação tem como tema a democracia associativa e procura compreender a constituição do universo associativo brasileiro, em sua diversidade por regiões, e suas variações no período de 2002 a 2016, ancorada no conceito de ecologia democrática das associações. Inicialmente, identifica dentro da literatura internacional e nacional as principais contribuições, papéis, características e funções que as associações podem exercer dentro do itinerário da democracia associativa como modelo teórico e político. Em um segundo momento, toma por base dados empíricos produzidos pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística - IBGE sobre as fundações privadas e associações sem fins lucrativos referentes aos anos de 2002, 2005 e 2010, comparando-os entre si e com as informações produzidas pelo Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada - IPEA sobre o perfil das organizações da sociedade civil no Brasil. Os resultados mostram um índice percentual de crescimento das organizações civis maior nas regiões norte, centro-oeste e nordeste do que nas regiões sul e sudeste. O texto conclui que, embora os rankings das organizações civis quanto às regiões e áreas de atuação permaneçam os mesmos durante todos os períodos das pesquisas analisadas, acontecem variações ao longo deste processo que mostram que o universo associativo brasileiro está sofrendo transformações que colocam as regiões norte, centro-oeste e nordeste em um ritmo de crescimento maior do que os registrados nas regiões sul e sudeste. ABSTRACT:This dissertation has as its theme associative democracy and seeks to understand the constitution of the Brazilian associative universe, in its diversity by regions, and its variations from 2002 to 2016, anchored in the concept of democratic ecology of associations. Initially, it identifies within the international and national literature the main contributions, roles, characteristics and functions that associations can exercise within the itinerary of associative democracy as a theoretical and political model. Secondly, based on empirical data produced by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) on private foundations and non-profit associations for the years 2002, 2005 and 2010, comparing them with each other and with the information produced by Institute of Applied Economic Research - IPEA on the profile of civil society organizations in Brazil. The results show a percentage growth rate of larger civil organizations in the north, center-west and northeast regions than in the south and southeast regions. The text concludes that, although the rankings of civil organizations regarding the regions and areas of operation remain the same during all periods of the surveys analyzed, there are variations throughout this process that show that the Brazilian associative universe is undergoing transformations that place the northern regions, central-west and northeast in a growth rate higher than those registered in the south and southeast regions.pt_BR
