ETNOCENTRISMO E DIÁLOGO INTERCULTURAL NO PENSAMENTO FILOSÓFICO DE RICHARD RORTY

RESUMO
O pensamento filosófico de Richard Rorty (1931-2007), extremamente
abrangente e controverso, revela-se uma valiosa via de questionamento dos
modos como a tradição filosófica tratou, até a sua época, os temas da
racionalidade e da verdade. Inicialmente afeito à filosofia analítica, Rorty se
tornou, na maturidade de seu trabalho, um neopragmatista, construindo uma
concepção política liberal-democrática e uma crítica antifundacionista dos
modos de justificação social do conhecimento, em que a verdade prescinde de
quaisquer pressupostos e/ou justificações metafísicas. Desse modo, para
Rorty, toda verdade é contingente, culturalmente localizada e etnocêntrica. No
ambiente reflexivo rortyano, o conceito de etnocentrismo é objeto de
redescrição, alcançando, em seu vocabulário, um valor completamente diverso
em relação ao que, tradicionalmente, tem-lhe sido atribuído pelas ciências
sociais. Neste trabalho, investiga-se o papel que desempenham as noções de
etnocentrismo e de diálogo intercultural no pensamento de Rorty, as quais se
constituem em um ponto importante de sua reflexão, levando-o a estabelecer
conversações com importantes nomes da Antropologia e da Filosofia
contemporâneas e à perspectiva de que, por meio do exercício do diálogo
intercultural, é possível a realização do progresso moral e a construção de uma
sociedade mais democrática e inclusiva. ABSTRACT: Philosophical Thought of Richard Rorty (1931-2007), extremely comprehensive and controversial, shows to be a valuable way of questioning the ways in which philosophical tradition treated, to his time, the hemes of rationality and truth. Initially inclined to analytic philosophy, Rorty became, in his maturity work, one neo-pragmatist, building a liberal-democratic political conception and antifundacionista criticism of social justification modes of knowledge, the truth
dispenses with any assumptions and / or evidence metaphysical. Thus, for Rorty, all truth is contingent, culturally located and ethnocentric. In Rorty's reflective environment, the concept of ethnocentrism is redescription object, reaching, in his vocabulary, a completely different value in relation to what traditionally has been assigned by the social sciences. In this paper, we investigate the role played by the notions of ethnocentrism and intercultural dialogue at Rorty´s Thought, which constitute an important point of his
reflection, leading him to establish conversations with important names of Anthropology and Contemporary Philosophy and the prospect that, through the intercultural dialogue exercise, the realization of moral progress and the construction of a more democratic and inclusive society is possible.
